Second year studio started off with a row house project. The sequencing called for precedent studies and narratives followed by many weeks of refinement. My narrative led me to make a water themed row house for the Drexel rowing coaches, as the site lined Drexel Park less than a mile from Boathouse Row. Each unit had a glass brick front facade topped with a glass swimming pool which spanned across the four row houses. Each unit has partitions for their section. AutoCAD, Photoshop
Each row home is three stories, but the interior levels are stepped back to allow for a full-height atrium from the ground to the pool above. AutoCAD, Photoshop
The transition from transparent to translucent to solid on the front facade between the glass pool, glass brick, and tiled base further supports this comparison. There is also a transition between the front and rear facade which takes place around the corner store that sells rowing gear. The straight lines of the brick unravel into a current-like wood pattern flowing across the entire rear elevation. AutoCAD, Photoshop
